Chiropractor’s holiday gift guide 2023
Happy holidays. It's that time of year again when we share our chiropractor's gift guide. My name is Dr. Robin Armstrong and I'm Dr. Jody Freedman, chiropractors at Willowbrook Chiropractic in Langley. Today, we're going to share a few products that we recommend to our patients, which you can either add to your wish-list or give to your loved ones.
Dr. Jody’s recommendations:
A work from home laptop setup - Using an external keyboard, mouse, and laptop stand together helps maintain better posture throughout the day when working on a laptop.
External keyboard & Mouse: I prefer the small keyboards that can fit inside our bag if we need to go to a coffee shop or the office. They also doesn't take up much space at home. A combo keyboard/mouse uses only one usb port which is helpful. A few of my favorites:
Arteck USB Small Keyboard / Mouse Combo (Small size) ~ $40
Logitech Full size keyboard / Mouse Combo (Large size) ~ $30
Laptop stand: Brings the top of the laptop screen up to our eye level, promoting better posture. Here is the one I use because it folds up into your bag, but there are so many options on amazon that might fit your space better, and are all under $50.
Nexstand Laptop Stand < $30
Other stand options $30-$50
Dr. Robin’s recommendations:
Silicone Toe Spacers: Useful for spacing out the toes and the middle of the foot, especially beneficial for bunions or nerve pain between the toes. Great to add to a foot mobility exercises routine.
Correct Toes (the original) ~ $85 - great but pricy. Available locally/online at Paris Everybody (Langley/Van) or Distance Runwear (Van/N.Van).
Toe Spacers by Podiatry Essentials ~$25 USD - The ones Dr. Robin uses but they don’t ship to Canada. You’ll need a USA mailbox.
Generic Toe Spacers ~$13-20. A cheaper option on amazon. A little stiffer but a good place to get started.
Peanut massager: They are two balls stuck together with a space for the spine. Ideal for rolling up and down along the muscles of the spine. It's great for pain in the shoulder blade area, between the shoulder blades, or where the upper back meets the neck. This peanut massager can also be used on the feet, hips, or any area you'd typically roll out.
5 Billion Massage Ball ~ $20
Our favorite Pillow:
Mediflow Water Pillow: While no one pillow fits everyone, this one works well for most. It's a regular fiberfill pillow with a water bladder in the middle, allowing you to adjust the water level for a better fit. When sleeping on our back, it cradles the neck nicely, and when on our side, it fills the space between the shoulder and neck. Both of us have been using it for more than a decade, and what sets it apart is the adjustable water bladder. We've got a couple of videos discussing pillows and sleep positions; check those out.
Amazon - Mediflow Water Pillow ~ $85 for 1, $135 for 2. Buy the original or elite fiber fill pillow, not the memory foam version.
Mediflow direct - ~$60-80. Buy the Fiber Water pillows, not the memory foam version.
